We are of a great variety of textures, maybe infinite; shown off by the light about us and within. We produce, provide a mood. We blend and contrast, futilely or fruitfully try to leave a mark, define ourselves or leave it to others if at all. We are thoughts, feelings, places, memories… A vague collection of those thoughts is what I started this painting with, tucked loosely in the back of my mind, to let them influence it and let the work clarify the thoughts. I have my own memories in mind, but there is more than enough room for you to include yours. I’m a visual as well as spiritual anarchist, the subject must have a meaning of personal interest yet I do not want subject matter to become static, it stifles learning. As we all have the right to our own belief’s and the responsibility to allow others to do the same, the true expression of art must come from within not for others. Yet we are human, we do pander and resort to some forms of iconography. Regardless of our inherent foibles, painting coalesces mental imagery as writing or speaking does ones thoughts.
